What you need to know

This is a new program by Medicare that begins July 1st. This is for individuals seeking GLP weight loss medications with a Medicare Drug Part D or Medicare Advantage plan. Your doctor must get you pre-approved to participate. Copay of $50 per month for an approved weight loss medication

There are 3 ways to qualify:

1. Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 or more
2. BMI between 30-34.99 with at least one qualifying condition. Click here to view qualifying conditions.

How to get started

1. Obtain a prescription from your doctor. Ask them to send it to DePietro’s Pharmacy. Please note you do not need to use our pharmacy exclusively to take advantage of this program.
2. Our staff will contact you for information. Tell them you are interested in the Medicare Bridge Program. Please have your Medicare Beneficiary number (Red, White and Blue Card).
3. We will electronically submit the Bridge Program paperwork to your doctor for them to complete. Medicare will review this information to determine your eligibility.
4. Once approved, our team will reprocess the prescription to the Bridge Program. You will be called to pickup the prescription and speak with our pharmacist to learn how to use the medication and answer questions.
